Have you ever opened your cell phone bill and thought, “Wow, not as much as I expected?” Yeah, didn’t think so. The good news it’s possible to lower your charges before your next billing cycle. Lifeline is a federal benefit program that lowers the cost of phone or internet service.
Do I Qualify?
Lifeline is an income based program, so you must meet certain eligibility requirements:
- Only one lifeline discount is allowed per household
- If your household ’s income is at 135% or less than of the federal poverty guidelines you may be eligible. You will be required to prove your income.
- If you participate in specific government programs (Snap, Medicaid, SSI, FPHA etc.) or Tribal Programs, you qualify for Lifeline. You will be required to prove participation.
- You can also sign up for Lifeline if your child or dependent participates in any of the programs above.
Get Lifeline
In order to get lifeline, qualifying customers must find a company in their area that offers lifeline and request an application. Submit the application and proof of identity to the company you have chosen. If approved, you will receive a Lifeline discount towards your bill. You can also receive a Lifeline discount to an existing service.
